Local Internet Service goes High-speed Wireless

HTC Technologies, a local Internet service provider throughout portions of southern Illinois, will soon begin offering high-speed wireless Internet access in the Millstadt, Illinois area. This new service called WireNet, will provide the Village of Millstadt and surrounding areas with a new and unique service.

HTC Technologies has partnered with Slingshot Wireless Communications of Woodlawn, Illinois to assist in deployment of the new wireless Internet service. In addition, HTC Technologies has worked closely with the Village of Millstadt to secure the most effective tower location.

Wireless Internet utilizes radio frequencies for data transmission, without the need for a phone line. The connection is made to HTC's network via a small receiver antenna located at the customer's home or business. "Customers who may currently be limited by the capacity of the phone lines or lack of technology, now have a great alternative," said Craig Hern, HTC Technologies Vice President of Internet Operations. "With wireless, the sky really is the limit."

High-speed wireless Internet service provides several advantages to customers. "First of all is the speed", stated Craig Hern. "With wireless you are always on, 24-hours a day, seven days a week. It eliminates the need for a second phone line for Internet access, while allowing more than one computer user on line at the same time. Plus, access is available within a 5-miles radius of downtown Millstadt, provided the signal quality is acceptable at the customer's location.

Many businesses are requiring higher speeds of access to conduct business on line. "Ordering, checking prices, transmitting files - there are many different ways to make business more efficient," stated Craig Hern. "And with high-speed Internet wireless, anything you can do on the Internet, you can now do faster."
